Aerostar

Training

Our standard Transition training into the Pressurized Aerostar is 3 days. Ground School includes capabilities and limitations, operation of the systems including normal, abnormal and emergency use. What systems do Aerostars have? Engine & Propellers, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Flight Controls, Fuel, Electrical, Environmental, De & Anti-Ice, Flight Instrumentation, Navigation, Autopilot, Radar and emergencies not previously covered.

Depending on your experience in similar aircraft, or similar flight instrumentation & autopilot that your Aerostar has, you may want 1 or 2 more hours in the plane than what our standard course provides. Another consideration is that your insurance company may require more time with an experienced Aerostar instructor than the normal 6 – 7 flying hours our standard course provides.

Pre-Buy

If you’re looking to purchase one of these aircraft – you’ll want a thorough pre-buy inspection by a well-qualified Aerostar mechanic. There are numerous issues that can surprise the potential owner that need correcting and would put his purchase and maintenance cost well over budget i.e. Low time engines that haven’t flown for many years and have not been preserved properly, major corrosion, gear up accidents that have not been reported nor corrected properly. I recently flew an Aerostar which reportedly had only 1 mechanical thing wrong with it. After flying it, I had a page and a quarter of discrepancies.
